Bath repair for Sesswick homes

Bath repair in Sesswick, done in place

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are damage beneath the taps and impact holes in acrylic.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Access to the area
  • The type of damage

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Most customers in Sesswick get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Sesswick questions

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes, we do this often. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Are there extra charges for Sesswick?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

When can I have a bath again?

Most baths can be used the next day. We confirm the time before we leave.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

What we do, step by step

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which generally takes a few hours. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Related advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

Aftercare tips

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust sets in.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Signs you need bath repair in Sesswick

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

Common reasons people in Sesswick contact us are:

  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Damage beneath the taps
