FAQs for Stockley
Will the repair show?
The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath, and we’ll tell you what to expect.
When can you do it?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.
What about rust by the waste?
Yes, very frequently. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.
What does bath repair cost?
Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before you book.
Are you accredited?
We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?
Usually, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.
Bath repair in Stockley without replacing anything
Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Common call-outs are for a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and a cracked acrylic bath, across acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding.
Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Why repair rather than replace?
A new bath costs more than the bath itself: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

What we can’t put right
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
- Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Work for landlords and builders
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll arrange it.

Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
Common problems we fix in Stockley
Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, and the damage isn’t always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- Impact holes in acrylic
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- Chips on the rim or sides
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose

What happens on the day
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It usually takes a morning or an afternoon, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.
How to prepare
- Open a window if you can
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Let the surface dry out before the visit

Aftercare tips
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Have new chips seen to early
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
Can I fix it myself?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.
