Bath repair in Storth

How we handle bath repair in Storth

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in a single visit. We are often asked to fix rusty patches near the plughole and damage beneath the taps, in acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Do you need bath repair in Storth?

Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, often before anyone notices. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting

What a repair cannot fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Cumbria and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

What affects the price in Storth

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from pictures

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Where you are, by postcode

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a morning or an afternoon. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

How to prepare

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Related advice

Should you replace it?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
