Bath repair in Tresamble

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

About our bath repair in Tresamble

Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes is repaired in place. Nothing is unplumbed, your tiles stay as they are, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. We’re frequently asked to fix impact holes in acrylic and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, in roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Cornwall.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your photos

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A photo taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Upload photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your TR4 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Tresamble questions

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow a morning or an afternoon. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know about parking or access

Advice

Landlords, agents and businesses in Tresamble

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Cornwall and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

What we’re called out for in Tresamble

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, closely followed by shower heads. Fittings cause damage too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Holes from dropped items

What to look for in a quote

  • If travel is included in the price
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • How soon you can use it again
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Our hiring checklist

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Tresamble. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

What you get with us

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
