Bath repair near West Allotment

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Bath repair in West Allotment, done in place

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, the tiles are not touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. Our technicians work on whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and cast iron enamel, and people most often call us about a chipped rim or side and a chip where the taps sit.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

West Allotment questions

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes, we do this frequently. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Do you work in West Allotment?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to West Allotment for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Will the repair last?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It normally takes two to three hours for most chips, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the following day.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

What we can’t put right

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

When to call us in West Allotment

A cracked acrylic bath typically wasn’t supported properly. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the bath move.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Chips under the taps

Landlord and trade work in West Allotment

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in West Allotment use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Should you replace it?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • One price list for the entire UK
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Most jobs done in one visit
