Bath repair in Zeals

Your questions about bath repair in Zeals

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including Zeals and the rest of Wiltshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.

How we handle bath repair in Zeals

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We’re often asked to fix impact holes in acrylic and scuffs and scratches in the surface, across roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Zeals and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Should you replace it?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Our bath repair starts from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why Zeals customers choose us

Do you need bath repair in Zeals?

Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips under the taps

What to look for in a quote

  • If travel is included in the price
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long

Choosing a repair company

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which typically takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

What affects the price in Zeals

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many areas need work
  • The material
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Zeals. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

You can normally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Email us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Zeals, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
