Bath Resealing across Moray

Bath resealing at your home in Moray

Preparation is everything in a reseal: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. We regularly repair baths, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units, and common reasons people contact us are unsealed corners and damp near the bath.

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take a couple of hours, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Cost

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Moray. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Near you in Elgin

We visit homes around The Muckle Cross pub, Cooper Park and St Columba's Church of Scotland and the streets around them. There’s a railway station in Elgin itself: Elgin station. Nearby you will also find Dr Gray's Hospital (0.6 miles west) and St Giles Centre (within half a mile north-west). Green spaces nearby include Loch Spynie.

What a repair cannot fix

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A flexing bath
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

How we price bath resealing

You’ll know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • The material and finish
  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Unusual colours or finishes

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

How the damage happens

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Damp near the bath
  • A messy previous reseal

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Moray: your questions answered

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll do the rest.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

Do you work in Moray?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Moray from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
