Resealing in Grayrigg: why it matters

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

When we’d advise against a repair

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • A flexing bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

How to care for the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Open a window after bathing

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

What we do, step by step

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes a couple of hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Ask for a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

What affects the price in Grayrigg

We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • What the surface is made of

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know

If you’re in Grayrigg and want a price, the easiest route is pictures: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
