Bath resealing in Newthorpe

Bath resealing in Newthorpe without replacing anything

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. New silicone will not bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We work on basins & vanity units, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks, and common reasons people contact us are discoloured, yellow sealant and an untidy old seal.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Newthorpe questions

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How long will it take?

A bath or shower usually takes a couple of hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Newthorpe?

Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the entire UK, including Newthorpe and the rest of Leeds. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.

When a repair isn’t the answer

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • A flexing bath
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Why reseal now?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why Newthorpe clients choose us

  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Most jobs done in one visit

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Leeds and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Air the room after use
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

What happens on the day

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we’re there, the work takes about two hours for a bath for most jobs. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Ask for a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Related advice

How we price bath resealing

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Newthorpe. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Any details about the material
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
