Bath resealing in Old Tebay

Bath resealing in Old Tebay, done in place

We cut out all of the old sealant, deal with any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. If you are dealing with mould you can’t clean out and unsealed corners, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee.

What bath resealing costs

We charge the same across the UK, including Old Tebay. What changes the price is:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Old Tebay. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Honest limits

We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Old Tebay questions

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Old Tebay.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Usually because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We seal baths full of water.

How long before I can shower?

Normally about a day later. We’ll tell you the exact time.

Why reseal now?

Resealing costs very little, and it protects everything around the bath. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why book with us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

See our prices page.

What happens on the day

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes about two hours for a bath. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
