Bath resealing in Stamperland without replacing anything

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours, plus curing time. Common call-outs are for stained silicone and gaps in the seal, on baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

The process

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take around two hours.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Stamperland questions

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Stamperland?

The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

Can new silicone go over old?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone won’t bond to old.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Do you cover the entire of Glasgow?

All of Glasgow, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

What bath resealing costs

We price every job individually, from your photos. The main factors are:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What the surface is made of

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

If you manage property in Stamperland, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Do you need bath resealing in Stamperland?

Even good sealant eventually discolours. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Damp near the bath
  • Unsealed corners
  • Black mould in the sealant

What your quote should include

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Who turns up on the day

How to compare quotes

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Why reseal now?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
