We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Bath resealing in The Village, done in place

A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, in a neat, continuous bead. If you are dealing with water getting behind the bath or tray and sealant that’s split or lifting, we can generally put it right, on kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and baths alike.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in The Village and across Windsor and Maidenhead.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes around two hours. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Related advice

When we would advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • A flexing bath
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms

Why reseal now?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

What you get with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • One visit for most repairs
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

Take a look at our prices page.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Air the room after use
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, generally around 24 hours.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

What affects the price in The Village

We give every job a fixed price from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Details of any past repairs

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
