Bath repair near Redcliffe

How we handle bath repair in Redcliffe

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the next day. Whether it’s a chipped rim or side and a chip where the taps sit, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

FAQs for Redcliffe

How invisible is a bath repair?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath, and we’ll tell you what to expect.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Redcliffe included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. The main factors are:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Access to the area

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Redcliffe. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

Common problems we fix in Redcliffe

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On steel and cast iron baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.

Look out for these signs:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Chips along the edge of the bath

What your quote should include

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • If travel is included in the price
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • What prep work is covered

10 questions to ask before you book

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. Repairing it deals only with the damage in one visit. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • One price list for the entire UK

What we do, step by step

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

Landlords, agents and businesses in Redcliffe

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Redcliffe as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

How to look after the repair

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
