About bath repair in CA4
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. A repair stops both. We’re often asked to fix chips under the taps and chips along the edge of the bath, on whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding.
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- Once it has cured, typically by the following day, the bath is ready to use.
What it costs in CA4
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Landlord and trade work in CA4
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
Should you replace it?
Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit.

Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.
How the damage happens
Rust tends to begin where water collects, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- Rusty patches near the plughole
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- A chipped rim or side
Should I try a DIY kit first?
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
CA4: your questions answered
Do you cover the whole of Cumbria?
All of Cumbria, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.
Is a repair better than a new one?
In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.
Will I be able to see the repair?
On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.
What information do you need?
Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.
Is there any odour?
There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.
Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?
Generally. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.
What happens next?
You will get a fixed quote back, typically with dates to choose from. There is no obligation to book.
