Bath repair at your home in DE13
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Common call-outs are for damage beneath the taps and a cracked acrylic bath, on acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel.
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a few hours, depending on the damage. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
Prices in DE13

Landmarks near Horninglow
Typical jobs here are in homes near St John the Divine, Abbot Beyne School and Stapenhill Gardens and the streets around them. You’ll also find Horninglow Primary: A de Ferrers Trust Academy (within half a mile south) and Royal Oak pub (under half a mile south). For rail, the closest station is Burton-On-Trent station, roughly 1.4 miles south of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Burton Museum (1.6 miles south) and Cooper's Square (1.7 miles south).
What a repair can’t fix
We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
Aftercare tips
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
Care for the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.
Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.
Repairing versus replacing
When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead.

Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
FAQs for DE13
Will the price change on the day?
If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Can you redo an old repair?
Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send photos.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.
Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?
Typically, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.
When can I have a bath again?
Usually the following day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.
