Bath repair across LA12: what to expect
Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are a hole punched through by something heavy and scratches you can feel with a fingernail.
When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.
- We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- Once it has cured, usually by the following day, the bath is ready to use.
Prices in LA12
Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why repair rather than replace?
Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Usually it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement.
Questions to ask before booking
- What happens if they find more damage
- Who will actually do the work
- What aftercare is recommended
- Whether they match the colour on site
Should I try a DIY kit first?
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
When a repair is not the answer
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:
- Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
Common problems we fix in LA12
Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, and the damage isn’t always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.
If you can see any of these, send us a picture:
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- Cracks in an acrylic bath
- Rust spots around the plughole
- Chips caused by builders
LA12: your questions answered
Do I need to be at home?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.
Do you come to LA12?
Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to LA12 and the rest of Cumbria. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Do the materials smell?
There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.
Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?
Often, if there’s access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
