About bath repair in NE65
We see every kind of bath damage: dropped-bottle chips, plughole rust, acrylic cracks and impact holes. Each is repaired in place. We are frequently asked to fix holes from dropped items and deep scratches in acrylic, in whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.
We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes a few hours for most jobs. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.
- First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Cost
Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price
For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.
Around Amble
We visit homes around Amble First School, James Calvert Spence College and Church of St Cuthbert, among other places. Amble’s nearest station is Acklington station, about 3.2 miles south-west of the centre. Nearby you’ll also find Warkworth Castle (1.5 miles north-west) and Amble Urban District (less than half a mile north-west). Open spaces near Amble include Coquet Island.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
Honest limits
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
- A steel bath rusted through
- A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
How to look after the repair
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
- Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.
If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.
Should you replace it?
When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you.
