How bath repair works in SY4

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. Nothing is unplumbed, your tiles stay as they are, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. We regularly repair acrylic, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are rust spots around the plughole and a kit repair that didn’t last.

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we are there, the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage for most jobs. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the following day.

What you will pay

Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Honest limits

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Landlords, agents and businesses in SY4

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in SY4 as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

How the damage happens

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.

Most people contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Chips caused by builders
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Chips under the taps
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

SY4 questions

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the whole UK, including SY4 and the rest of Shropshire. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll confirm dates.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

How invisible is a bath repair?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference, and we will tell you what to expect.
