About shower tray repair in Isle of Wight
We check the tray before repairing it: if it flexes underfoot, the cause needs sorting before any repair, or the crack will come back. We will explain what we find. We regularly repair enamelled steel, ceramic and cast iron, and common reasons people get in touch are damage around the waste and chipped corners or rims.
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.
- The surrounding area is sheeted and masked.
- Old sealant is removed if it’s in the way.
- The tray is cleaned, keyed and repaired.
- We refinish the surface to match the tray.
- We clean up and give you the curing time.
What it costs in Isle of Wight
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price
Most clients in Isle of Wight get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
What’s near Newport
We visit homes around Castle Inn, The Man in the Moon and Seaclose Park and the streets around them. Other local landmarks include Christ The King College (0.6 miles south-west), Island Innovation VI Form Campus (within half a mile south-east) and Nine Acres Primary School (within half a mile south). A little further out are Carisbrooke Castle (1 mile south-west) and St Mary's Hospital (0.8 miles north). For a walk, there is Briddlesford Nature Reserve and Mill Hill.
Repair or replace?
A new tray can be cheap, but fitting it isn’t: removing the screen, breaking out tiles, relaying the base and re-tiling. A repair is one visit.

Prices and what affects them
Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:
- Doing more than one item at once
- The type of damage
- The material
- How easy the damage is to reach
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
How to get a fixed quote
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- Natural light rather than flash
- Something in shot to show the size
- A wider photo showing the whole shower tray
- What it’s made of, if you know
If you’re in Isle of Wight and want a price, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
When we’d advise against a repair
A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:
- Plumbing leaks under the tray
- Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed
- Water damage to the floor beneath the tray
Keeping it looking good
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Store bottles off the tray
- Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Use the extractor fan
- Give the tray a quick rinse after use
Wait the full curing time before you shower. After that, mild cleaners and good ventilation are all it needs.
Do not keep using a cracked tray. Water may be getting under the tray, and the damage below is not visible.
Questions from Isle of Wight
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Are there extra charges for Isle of Wight?
No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.
Do you redo the sealant?
We can. After a repair is a good time to reseal.
Is a cracked tray repairable?
Normally, if the tray is firmly supported. We reinforce the crack, fill it and refinish the surface.
What happens if you find more damage?
We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.
Will there be a smell?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.
Do you hold any accreditations?
