Worktop repair at your home in East Riding of Yorkshire
You don’t need a new worktop because of one mark. The damage is filled and refinished so it blends into the pattern. Our technicians work on granite & marble, solid wood and quartz, and people most often call us about dents and gouges and a chipped quartz edge.
We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we leave the room as we found it.
- We assess the damage and the worktop material.
- We clean the area and prepare the edges of the damage.
- We fill the damage with a suitable filler and build up any lost edge.
- The colour and pattern are matched by hand.
- Finally we seal or finish the area to match.
What you will pay
Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Why choose Surface Doctor
- Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- No extra charge for your area
- One visit for most repairs
How to get a price
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos using our quote form or call us. We will say right away if a repair is the right fix.
Near you in Beverley
Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to Beverley Masonic Hall, Beverley High School and Beverley St Nicholas Community Primary School, among other places. You’ll also find The Queens Head pub (less than half a mile south-east) and Beverley Minster (within half a mile south-east). Beverley has its own railway station: Beverley station. Other landmarks nearby include East Riding Community Hospital (0.9 miles north-east) and Baynard Castle (4.1 miles south).
Different materials, different repairs
Quartz
Quartz is hard, but its edges are brittle. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them.
Wood
Wooden worktops can be sanded, filled and re-oiled, and burns and dents repaired.
Can I fix it myself?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
When a repair is not the answer
A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:
- Through cracks in stone that is moving
- Severe heat marks in quartz
- A top that moves on its units
How to care for the repair
So the finish stays in good condition:
- Always use a trivet for hot pans
- Clean spills straight away
- Keep joints and edges dry
- Watch the edges with heavy pans
Let the repair cure for the time we give you before putting anything heavy or hot on it. After that, trivets and chopping boards are your best protection.
Daily use can make burns and chips worse, especially near the sink. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.
Signs you need worktop repair
Edges and corners chip most frequently, often when something heavy catches the edge.
People normally call us after spotting something like this:
- Chips near the sink
- A chipped quartz edge
- Snagging damage in a new kitchen
- A dent from a dropped pan
