What your worktop is made of matters

Quartz

Quartz is crushed stone bound with resin. We fill and polish chipped edges to match the sheen.

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface bonded to a board. Damage is filled and the pattern painted in by hand.

About our worktop repair in Radyr

We repair chips, burns and scratches in laminate, stone, quartz, solid surface and wooden worktops, with colour and pattern matched by hand. The worktop stays in place. We regularly repair quartz, solid wood and solid surface (such as Corian), and common reasons people contact us are chips near the sink and chips on edges and corners.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Signs you need worktop repair in Radyr

Kitchen worktops have a hard life. Hot pans leave burns, knives cut, and heavy pans chip the edges.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Damage around the sink cut-out
  • Chipped corners
  • A heat mark or burn
  • Chips caused during installation

10 questions to ask before you book

Should you replace it?

Swollen or badly damaged laminate may need replacing. For chips, burns and scratches, a repair is the better value. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

How we price worktop repair

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How many items we do on one visit

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Quotes from your photos

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The material, if you know it
  • A picture taken from further back

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

The process

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a few hours, depending on the damage from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. We start by checking the damage and the worktop material.
  2. Next we clean up and prepare the damaged area.
  3. A filler that suits the material goes in, and missing edges are rebuilt.
  4. The colour and pattern are matched by hand.
  5. The surface is sealed or finished to suit the worktop.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Use a chopping board
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Keep wood oiled

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards are your best protection.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.

Radyr questions

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

How much do I need to move?

Only the area we’re working on. We protect the rest of the kitchen.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Can you match the pattern on my worktop?

Yes, the pattern is built up by hand.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Cardiff and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
