Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Bath re-enamelling in Anslow Common, done in place

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. If you are dealing with enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, we can help.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Anslow Common as everywhere else we work.

Before and after: an old basin refinished to bright white

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

  • Stains that will not shift
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing

Common questions in Anslow Common

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

Can you price it without visiting?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

How soon can you come?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Landlord and trade work in Anslow Common

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we will handle the rest.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing renews the entire surface with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why us?

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
