Bath re-enamelling at your home in Beech

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Our repair technicians work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths, and people most frequently call us about a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Should you replace it?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

When we would advise against a repair

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

The process

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a full day, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Send pictures for a quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.
