Trusted bath re-enamelling in Beech

Bath re-enamelling in Beech, done in place

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. If you are dealing with several chips and rust patches and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, we can generally put it right.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Beech. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What a repair can’t fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays

What happens on the day

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes a full day. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

What we are called out for in Beech

Frequently the bath has just had decades of use, with nothing wrong except the surface. The body of the bath is typically perfectly sound.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Several chips and rust patches

Questions to ask before you book

  • How long it needs to cure
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

How to compare quotes

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Landlord and trade work in Beech

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Beech as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
