Bath re-enamelling in Bermondsey

Landlord and trade work in Bermondsey

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Bath re-enamelling in Bermondsey without replacing anything

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. We work on Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people get in touch are several chips and rust patches and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Bermondsey. The price reflects:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material
  • Doing more than one item at once

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Bermondsey. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the entire bath

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

When a repair is not the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we work on in Bermondsey

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

How the visit works

We turn up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take most of the day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Open a window if you can
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Bermondsey questions

How long does re-enamelling take?

One day for most baths, ready the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Typically, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send photos.

Do you need to take the bath out?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

What we’re called out for in Bermondsey

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
