Bath re-enamelling for Chelwood homes

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

Bath re-enamelling in Chelwood, done in place

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. We work on acrylic baths, cast iron baths and Victorian roll-tops, and people most frequently call us about thin, worn enamel in places and lots of chips and rust spots.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Chelwood: your questions answered

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Do you cover Chelwood?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Chelwood. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How quickly can you book me in?

We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, so Chelwood is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Bath and North East Somerset.

How do I book?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Work for landlords and builders

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Common problems we fix in Chelwood

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A coloured bath you want in white

What your quote should include

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Who will actually do the work

How to compare quotes

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Should you replace it?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Work done at your home or business

The process

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a full day. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

Advice

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The type of damage

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Chelwood. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
