Bath re-enamelling at your home in Ewell Minnis

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is typically the most cost-effective option. There is no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We work on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about a coating lifting around the plughole and thin, worn enamel in places.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Generally one visit, start to finish

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

What we do, step by step

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to the best part of a day.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Ewell Minnis. The price reflects:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material
  • Whether we combine several jobs

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The material, if you know it

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

When we would advise against a repair

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
