Bath re-enamelling at your home in Gadlys

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We are frequently asked to fix worn patches where water runs and sits and lots of chips and rust spots, on Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What kind of damage it is
  • What the surface is made of
  • Unusual colours or finishes

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Most clients in Gadlys get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Repair or replace in Gadlys?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Gadlys

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • An old resurfacing that is failing

Choosing a repair company

When we’d advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a full day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
