Need bath re-enamelling in Flintshire?

About bath re-enamelling in Flintshire

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We regularly repair basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and the jobs we see most are several chips and rust patches and a coating lifting around the plughole.

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a full day. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the following day.

Cost

Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a price

If you’re in Flintshire and want a price, the easiest route is pictures: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Local landmarks in Connah's Quay

Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to Connah's Quay High School, Wepre Park and St Mark's Church. Nearby too are The Redhall pub (under half a mile north-east) and Bryn Deva C.P. School (within half a mile north-east). For rail, the closest station is Shotton station, about 1.2 miles east of the centre. Well-known places in the area include Buckley Library (3.3 miles south) and Deeside Community Hospital (1.4 miles south-east). Not far away are Leadbrook and Deeside Nature Reserve.

What we are called out for in Flintshire

Previous coatings can fail too, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Avoid suction-cup mats

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Repairing versus replacing

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Flintshire. The price depends on:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Access to the area
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Details of any past repairs

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.
