Bath re-enamelling for Gairney Bank homes

When to call us in Gairney Bank

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Contact us if you’ve noticed:

  • Stains that will not shift
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • An old resurfacing that is failing

What your quote should include

  • Aftercare advice
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • What protection goes down before work starts

How to compare quotes

About our bath re-enamelling in Gairney Bank

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. If you’re dealing with brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and a coating lifting around the plughole, we can generally put it right.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a full day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the day after.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Common questions in Gairney Bank

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Can you price it without visiting?

Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Do you cover the entire of Perth and Kinross?

We work UK-wide, so Gairney Bank is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Does re-enamelling smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Gairney Bank. The price reflects:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Landlord and trade work in Gairney Bank

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

If you manage property in Gairney Bank, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.

Repair or replace in Gairney Bank?

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Store bottles off the bath

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.
