Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Bath re-enamelling in Grange without replacing anything

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Common call-outs are for worn patches where water runs and sits and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

The process

We work cleanly and quietly. We protect the area first, then the work takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Related advice

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

What you get with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • A fixed quote before you book

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

When to call us in Grange

Older baths often have several problems at once: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Several chips and rust patches

What to look for in a quote

  • How soon you can use it again
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • If travel is included in the price
  • What preparation is included

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

For landlords and businesses

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will handle the rest.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • How much damage there is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any details about the material
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Details of any past repairs

If you’re in Grange and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
