Bath re-enamelling near High Ferry

Bath re-enamelling in High Ferry, done in place

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Common call-outs are for wear marks under the taps and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, in acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What we are called out for in High Ferry

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

What to look for in a quote

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • How long it needs to cure
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

Choosing a repair company

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a full day. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Why High Ferry customers choose us

  • One price list for the entire UK
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

How to look after the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Have chips seen to early

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Lincolnshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

For anyone letting property in or around High Ferry, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

When we would advise against a repair

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A bath that is rusted through

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

High Ferry questions

What information do you need?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Usually, yes. The old repair comes out first.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

How long is the bath unusable?

Normally one day, with the bath ready the next day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Do you cover High Ferry?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to High Ferry and the rest of Lincolnshire. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.
