Bath re-enamelling in Newton Mountain

Bath re-enamelling in Newton Mountain without replacing anything

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Our technicians work on acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and people most often call us about brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Newton Mountain and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A bath that’s rusted through

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Newton Mountain. The price reflects:

  • The material
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Any details about the material

To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

Landlord and trade work in Newton Mountain

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Newton Mountain as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll arrange it.

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

Repair or replace in Newton Mountain?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is normally much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why book with us

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Questions from Newton Mountain

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

Is there a smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you work in Newton Mountain?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Newton Mountain and the rest of Pembrokeshire. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How long does re-enamelling last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance. Once we are there, the work takes most of the day. The room is left tidy.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
