About our bath re-enamelling in Hinderwell

We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Whether it’s several chips and rust patches and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, we can help, on pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths alike.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How much damage there is
  • The material and finish
  • How hard the colour is to match

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Hinderwell. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

You can take the photos on your phone. Just ensure we can see:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Email us pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, with your TS13 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

FAQs for Hinderwell

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Usually, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What information do you need?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Which areas do you work in?

The whole UK, including all of Redcar and Cleveland. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow most of the day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Advice

Repair or replace: which is better?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s much quicker too. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • A fixed quote before you book
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

When a repair is not the answer

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A bath that is rusted through

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

Common problems we fix in Hinderwell

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Customers usually contact us about:

  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

What your quote should include

  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • If travel is included in the price
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
