Bath re-enamelling at your home in Holy Island
We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. Whether it’s a peeling or bubbling previous coating and thin, worn enamel in places, we can typically put it right, on acrylic baths, cast iron baths and Victorian roll-tops alike.
You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

What your bath is made of matters
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Looking after it afterwards
Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
- Do not leave a chip unrepaired
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
Should you replace it?
Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and typically one day, with the bath ready the next day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

The process
The work is clean and fairly quiet. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes a full day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
Getting a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Honest limits
In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- Holes rusted through the metal

Common problems we fix in Holy Island
Enamel wears gradually. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths dull the surface, starting where water runs and sits.
The most common problems we’re called about are:
- Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
- A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
- Wear marks under the taps
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
