Bath re-enamelling at your home in Kingsteps

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. We are often asked to fix an old resurfacing that’s failing and staining under the taps and around the waste, on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Kingsteps and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work
  • What the surface is made of

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The material, if you know it
  • Where you are, by postcode

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Kingsteps: your questions answered

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

Do you cover the whole of Highland?

We cover the entire UK, including Kingsteps and the rest of Highland. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll confirm dates.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Kingsteps?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your IV12 postcode.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, frequently. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, we often do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take a full day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Advice

For landlords and businesses

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we will handle the rest.

Why repair rather than replace?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Prices start from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Kingsteps. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What a repair cannot fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How to care for the repair

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.
