FAQs for Southwaite
Is there a smell?
A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.
Is there a call-out fee?
Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
Do the materials smell?
A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
Can you quote from photos?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.
Bath re-enamelling in Southwaite, done in place
After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. If you are dealing with stains that won’t shift and chips and rust in more than one place, we can help.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Why repair rather than replace?
A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Can I fix it myself?
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
- Wear marks under the taps

How we price bath re-enamelling
Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:
- How many items we do on one visit
- The size and number of damaged areas
- How hard the colour is to match
- What kind of damage it is
Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
How to get a fixed price
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
- One sharp close-up of the damage
To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll say straight away if a repair is the right fix.
Looking after it afterwards
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.
Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.
What we do, step by step
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a full day. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
- We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
Preparing for the visit
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
Ask for a price
