Trusted bath re-enamelling in Wix

Bath re-enamelling in Wix without replacing anything

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. We regularly repair cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops, and people most frequently call us about brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and a bath in a colour that no longer suits.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

When a repair is not the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • How many areas need work
  • What the surface is made of
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Email us a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, with your CO11 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Wix

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Essex and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

What happens on the day

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes most of the day, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Advice

Wix questions

How long does re-enamelling last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

What happens after I send pictures?

We come back with a fixed quote. You’re under no obligation.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing normally wins. Prices start from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Wix. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why Wix customers choose us

  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • A fixed quote before you book
