Why repair rather than replace?
For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Lavister. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Bath repair in Lavister, done in place
A damaged bath does not have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day. Whether it’s rusty patches near the plughole and a chipped rim or side, we can usually put it right.
You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

What we do, step by step
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Allow two to three hours for most chips from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
- Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the day after.
Before we arrive
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
How to get a price
Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Work for landlords and builders
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Lavister as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

What bath repair costs
Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:
- The material and finish
- What kind of damage it is
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
Getting a price from photos
Phone photos are fine. Just ensure we can see:
- Details of any past repairs
- Natural light rather than flash
- The material, if you know it
- One picture of the whole bath
No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.
Aftercare tips
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Have new chips seen to early
Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.
Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
What a repair cannot fix
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- A steel bath rusted through
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Questions from Lavister
Are you accredited?
We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.
Do you repair coloured baths?
Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.
Do you charge for travel?
We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
