Bath repair in Press without replacing anything

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. We regularly repair pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and people most frequently call us about a cracked acrylic bath and chips under the taps.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Press and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Press. What changes the price is:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many items we do on one visit

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it

Upload pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your S42 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

When we’d advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Why repair rather than replace?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Press. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why us?

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Common questions in Press

What does bath repair cost?

Repairs from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Do you work in Press?

We do. Technicians travel to Press from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

A small chip is a quick job. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.
