Trusted bath repair in St Jude's

Do you need bath repair in St Jude's?

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Rust spots around the plughole

How we handle bath repair in St Jude's

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We are often asked to fix scuffs and scratches in the surface and a chipped rim or side, on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Bristol.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Should you replace it?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why book with us

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A steel bath rusted through

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Landlord and trade work in St Jude's

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in St Jude's use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

The process

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which usually takes a few hours. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Make sure the area is dry

Advice

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to St Jude's. The price depends on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many items we do on one visit

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from photos

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any details about the material
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

For a price in St Jude's, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
