Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, generally in a single visit. Whether it’s hairline or through cracks in acrylic and holes from dropped items, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.

Every job is backed for twelve months in St David's and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

10 questions to ask before booking

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Send photos for a quote

Phone pictures are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Ensure they show:

  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

How to look after the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

A small chip is a quick job. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. It typically takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can usually use the bath the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Why repair rather than replace?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
