Bath repair in Star, done in place
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Our technicians work on acrylic, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are chips on the rim or sides and a hole punched through by something heavy.
Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Star and across North Somerset.

How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- The material and finish
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Star. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Quotes from your photos
We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Where you are, by postcode
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- One picture of the entire bath
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

Looking after it afterwards
So the finish stays in good condition for years:
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.
Signs you need bath repair in Star
The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.
Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:
- Rust spots around the plughole
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail

The process
Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes two to three hours for most chips, and we leave the room as we found it.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the day after.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Keep a parking space free if you can

Related advice
Should you replace it?
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Star questions
Will there be a smell?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.
What areas do you cover?
Everywhere in the UK, Star included. There is no extra charge for travel.
Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send photos.
What happens if you find more damage?
If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.
Is my repair covered?
Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
Do you repair coloured baths?
Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including older coloured suites.
How quickly can you book me in?
That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.
Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?
In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.

DIY kit or professional repair?
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
When we’d advise against a repair
In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.
Materials we work on in Star
- Pressed steel enamel
- Acrylic
- Cast iron enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Whirlpool & spa baths
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
