Bath repair in Willington

About our bath repair in Willington

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. There is no plumbing to disconnect, your tiles stay as they are, and the repaired area is colour matched so it blends in. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths, and people most frequently call us about a chip where the taps sit and snagging damage from a refit.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

How the visit works

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a morning or an afternoon. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Should you replace it?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Prices start from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Willington. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send photos for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any details about the material
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Honest limits

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
