Bath resealing in Bridgefoot, done in place

A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. Typical jobs include silicone coming away from the tiles and stained silicone, in basins & vanity units, wet rooms and baths.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

The process

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take a couple of hours. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Common problems we fix in Bridgefoot

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed with the bath empty.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Stained silicone
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Black mould in the sealant

What to look for in a quote

  • How the colour is matched
  • How long it needs to cure
  • How your room will be protected
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

Our hiring checklist

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Air the room after use
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Landlord and trade work in Bridgefoot

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Bridgefoot as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

What we can’t put right

We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units

Why reseal now?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why us?

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • Most jobs done in one visit

Prices and what affects them

There is no area surcharge for Bridgefoot. The price reflects:

  • How many areas need work
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What the surface is made of
  • How hard the colour is to match

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We’ll say right away whether it can be repaired.
