Your questions about bath resealing in Shap

Do you cover Shap?

We do. Technicians travel to Shap from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Prices and what affects them

We do not charge extra for travel to Shap. The price comes down to:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The size and number of damaged areas

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

If you’re in Shap and want a price, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Do you need bath resealing in Shap?

Sealant does not last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • An untidy old seal
  • Gaps in the seal

Choosing a repair company

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Avoid scraping the joints, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Why reseal now?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Why book with us

  • One price list for the whole UK
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

What we do, step by step

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a couple of hours. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Ask for a price

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

What a repair can’t fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Hidden water damage
  • Movement in the bath or tray
