Bath repair across M40: what to expect
You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, with the colour mixed on site. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people contact us are chips caused by builders and a hole punched through by something heavy.
We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. Allow two to three hours for most chips, and we will keep you posted as we go.
- First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
What you will pay
Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Repair or replace?
Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like is not cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is.
Questions to ask before you book
- How to look after the finish
- What protection goes down before work starts
- How changes to the job are handled
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
When we’d advise against a repair
We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
How to look after the repair
Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Do not scrub with anything abrasive
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.
A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.
Landlords, agents and businesses in M40
Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Greater Manchester and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.
M40 questions
Can rust on a bath be repaired?
Yes, very often. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.
What do you need from me?
Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.
Do you charge for travel?
We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.
Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?
Typically, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.
