Why repair rather than replace?
Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book.
Why us?
- CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
- Rooms protected and left tidy
- A fixed quote before booking
- Generally one visit, start to finish

About our bath re-enamelling in New Town
The bath stays where it is, so the taps, tiles and plumbing are not touched. It typically takes one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Whether it’s lots of chips and rust spots and an old resurfacing that’s failing, we can help, whatever the material.
We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in New Town
Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.
Look out for these signs:
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- Worn patches where water runs and sits
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- What preparation is included
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. What matters most is:
- How many areas need work
- Unusual colours or finishes
- The type of damage
- The material and finish
Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.
Quotes from your pictures
Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Natural light rather than flash
- A photo taken from further back
- What it’s made of, if you know
The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
How the visit works
The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a full day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
- The bath is left to cure and can generally be used the following day.
Preparing for the visit
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
How to get a price

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Repairs by material
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Acrylic
Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.
Aftercare tips
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
DIY kit or professional repair?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
