When we’d advise against a repair

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A bath split right through the body
  • A bath that’s rusted through

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

About our bath re-enamelling in Powys

We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Typical jobs include an old resurfacing that’s failing and a roll-top that’s seen better days, in cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will come back.

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we’re there, the work takes most of the day in most cases. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

What affects the price in Powys

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A photo taken from further back
  • The material, if you know it

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

How to care for the repair

Aftercare is simple:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Should you replace it?

A replacement often means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and generally a day, with the bath back in use the following day. Prices start from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

What you get with us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Common questions in Powys

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Do you work in Powys?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Powys from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Will the price change on the day?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Powys as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Powys and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
