How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Rothes. What changes the price is:

  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Rothes. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Bath re-enamelling in Rothes without replacing anything

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, and you can use the bath the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We’re frequently asked to fix brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and a coating lifting around the plughole, in cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Rothes?

Frequently the bath has just had decades of use, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is normally as strong as ever.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

Questions to ask before you book

  • What prep work is covered
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How changes to the job are handled

Choosing a repair company

How the visit works

You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It generally takes a full day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

Advice

When a repair isn’t the answer

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

What you get with us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Rothes questions

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the whole UK, including Rothes and the rest of Moray. Send your postcode with your photos and we will confirm dates.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

How to care for the repair

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
